Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd also known as POWERGRID. It is founded in 23 October 1989 and worked under the Companies Act. Its headquarter is situated at Gurgaon, Haryana, India. It serves its services in India. It’s Chairman and Managing Director is Shri IS Jha. Its main work is transmission and distribution, energy trading. It is a Government owned Corporation. Government of India wholly owned this organization. National Power Transmission Corporation Limited is its original name. It start functioning on management basis in August 1991 and suddenly it took over the assets of NTPC, NHPC, NEEPCO, NLC, NPC, THDC, SJVNL etc. The network of their transmission is spreaded in various circuit kilometers. Transmission Assets which is owned by NTPC, NHPC Limited (“NHPC”) and North-Eastern Electric power Corporation Limited are managed by POWERGRID. The ownership of these three companies are transferred to POWERGRID by the Power Transmission Systems Act in January 1993 and then the employees of these three companies are suddenly the employees of POWERGRID. POWERGRID has a telecom company i.e. POWERTEL, Which operates the network with it they have points of presence in various locations across India.
