Reserve Bank of India (RBI) is inaugurated in 1 April 1935, 81 years old. Governor of RBI is Raghuram Rajan. Its currency is Indian Rupee.   It is a central banking unit which controls monetary policy of Indian Rupee. According to provision of Reserve Bank of India Act, 1934, it starts its operations during British rule. In development strategy of Government of India, RBI plays an important role. Each Board has 5 members which represent regional interests, and interests of co-operative and indigenous banks. Central Board of Directors is the main committee of Central bank. Directors are appointed by Government of India of 4 – year term. RBI has 4 zonal offices i.e.  Chennai, Delhi, Kolkata and Mumbai. It also has 19 regional offices and 10 sub-offices.     Bank has 2 training colleges for their officers i.e. Reserve Bank Staff College, Chennai and College of Agricultural Banking, Pune. 3 self governing institutions also run by RBI i.e.  National Institute of Bank Management (NIBM), Indira Gandhi Institute of Development Research (IGIDR), Institute for Development and Research in Banking Technology (IDRBT). And four Zonal training centre’s at Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata and New Delhi.
